Hey craft lovers!
Today, we’ll explore essential crochet stitches that form the foundation of countless projects. Let’s begin with step-by-step guides to mastering these stitches.
1. Single Crochet (X)
The single crochet is a fundamental stitch. Follow these steps:
- Create a chain stitch (CH).
- Insert your hook from front to back into the second chain from the hook.
- Yarn over and pull through the first loop, leaving two loops on the hook.
- Yarn over again and pull through both loops.
- Repeat for each chain.

Finishing a Row:
- Chain 1 (turning chain; does not count as a stitch).
- Insert the hook into the first single crochet of the row and work a single crochet in each stitch.
- For the last stitch, work into the last stitch of the row, not the turning chain.
2. Slip Stitch (SL)
This short stitch connects stitches or moves yarn:
- Insert the hook from front to back into the desired stitch.
- Yarn over and pull through both the inserted loop and the loop on the hook.
- One loop remains on the hook.

3. Half Double Crochet (T)
- Create a chain stitch (CH).
- Yarn over, then insert the hook into the third chain from the hook.
- Pull the yarn through the chain (three loops on the hook).
- Yarn over and pull through all three loops.

Finishing a Row:
- Chain 2 (turning chain).
- Skip the first stitch and work a half double crochet in each stitch of the previous row.
- Work the last stitch into the top of the turning chain.
